The Don's tradition began in 1934 as a simple French-Acadian restaurant called Don's BEER PARLOR. Don L. Landry, the founder , is a direct descendant of the Acadians who fled Nova Scotia more than 200 years ago bringing their religion, beliefs, and a love of good food and good living.

In 1939, Don was joined by his brother, Ashby. The food was excellent, the service warm and friendly-Don's grew. Ashby and Don changed the name to Don's Seafood Inn, marking the restaurant's increasing variety of excellent seafood. In 1952, brother Willie combined his corner grocery store with the restaurant, establishing the first Don's Seafood and Steak House.

During the ensuing years, as more Landry family members joined the group, other Don's restaurants were established in Louisiana and Texas. The tradition of fine dining, begun in 1934 in Southwest Louisiana, has been continued for over half a century by the Landry family with these now internationally famous Don's Seafood and Steak House restaurants.

Don's specialized "cajun-style" restaurants have earned a reputation for superior service and excellent preparation of fresh seafood and fine steaks. Each restaurant is independently operated and food is bought fresh from local markets. Yet each restaurant adheres rigidly to the Don's Seafood And Steak House tradition of only the finest, freshest ingredients, carefully selected, perfectly seasoned, expertly prepared and graciously served.

What began as a tiny French-Acadian restaurant on a side street in Lafayette, Louisiana, has become since that time a famous group of Cajun restaurants. The Landry family is dedicated to continuing this tradition and to maintaining its reputation for fine food.
